Project Aims :
Youth unemployment is one of the biggest problems facing Europe. It has increased substantially in most countries since the 2008–2009 financial crisis. There were more than 7.5 million young people not engaged in employment, education or training – over 13 per cent of the EU’s youth population. There were 5.5 million unemployed young people (15–24 year-olds looking for work but unable to find it) in the EU in the first quarter of 2013 (Institute for Public Policy Research/IPPR). According to the OECD, the rate of unemployment for people with a third level education in Greece is 20 percent while Spain follows with 14.9 percent and in Turkey 12.,4 percent. “Reunite Academia with Business World: Soft Skill Development Lab” has been designed to increase employability levels of higher education students with empowering their soft skills, bring together academia with business world to overlap employers’ skills expectation with graduates by the use of Skill Development Lab system (Self-Assesment Web based Mobile App, Training Module for Developing Soft Skills and Educator Guide, e-Learning Module for Developing Soft Skills and Career Guide, Database of Techno Companies’ Workforce SoftSkills Level), all to be supported / strengthened by tutors , classroom trainings, and international seminar series.
